At a very young age my grandparents gave me a bird book. A seed was sown. Family holidays became trips to wild places and even bird observatories. Folklore told by birding elders and the optimism and expectation about what tomorrow might bring soaked very deep into a forming mind.

A trainee bird ringing licence arrived at the age of 14 and renewal (but now for an "A" Permit is an annual event. A bit later, landscape architecture opened up as a well matched career giving opportunity to better appreciate habitats and species whilst helping make places for people and wildlife and chance to work with talented supportive people.

The sense of wonder for and the need for our care of our wonderful planet remains strong and all best shared with others making new memories of what we encounter along the way.

My first cruise with OWE was in 2023.
